A man opened fire in a Sanford, Florida home early Monday morning, killing a woman and injuring at least five others.
Daily Mail reported that police say the shooting was a “domestic” situation and that the injured victims include two children, a 7-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy. The gunman, whose name has not yet been released, has been arrested and is in custody.
“I can’t stress enough that this scene is one of the worst that our officers and investigators have ever responded to,” Sanford spokeswoman Bianca Gillett said, according to Click Orlando. “It’s horrific.”
Investigators say the shooting occurred at around 6:15am at a home near Goldsboro Elementary School. The gunman was in a “domestic relationship” with the deceased female victim, and the wounded victims include another man as well as the two children.
The boys were each arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and their conditions are not known at this time.
The gunman was arrested soon after the shooting.
“There was a brief moment (that) he attempted to flee, but he went into custody willingly,” Gillet said.
